Customizable security zones
The ZyWALL 1050 supports L3 virtualization techniques (VLAN and virtual/alias interface).

Users can set the VLAN or virtual interfaces to different physical ports as needed. In addition, users can group the VLANs and virtual interfaces in a zone where consistent security policies are applied.

The virtualization and zone concepts allow the ZyWALL 1050 to offer flexible deployment and simplified security policy management.

Media bandwidth Management
Network administrators can allocate network resources based on applications being used guaranteeing Quality of Service (QoS).

Media bandwidth management functionality prioritises media services, increasing productivity and efficiency by tailoring bandwidth to specific application demands such as VoIP, video streaming and video-conferencing.

Comprehensive centralised logs allow administrators to keep track of bandwidth usage.

VoIP friendly firewall security
Adoption of VoIP brings additional security risks to networks. The ZyWall 1050 is a VoIP friendly firewall offering a SIP/H.323 ALG feature which dynamically opens only those ports required for the duration of a VoIP call. Once the call is completed the ports automatically close preventing malicious attacks.

Content filter management

Users can instruct the ZyWALL 1050 to monitor or block access based on website categories from a pre-defined list.

For up-to-date web site ratings users can activate the content filtering subscription allowing the ZyWALL 1050 to access the dynamic URL database and provide up to date automatic access restrictions.
