Verbatim LTO Ultrium Tape Cartridges are the newest addition to Verbatim's line of data storage products.

Verbatim Ultrium cartridges are compatible with all LTO Ultrium drives and are certified for use in all LTO Ultrium drive applications.

Each Verbatim Ultrium cartridge stores up to 200GB of data (assumes 2:1 compression ratio). Robust tape leader pin technology ensures positive tape loading for thousands of load/unload cycles and greatly reduces the potential for broken leaders. Verbatim LTO Ultrium Tape Cartridges are backed by Verbatim's LifeTime Warranty and use ultra-reliable MP (metal particle) coating technology.

This exceptionally reliable, high performance format is the result of a multi-million dollar collaboration between three leaders in the storage industry - HP, IBM and Seagate. The objective of the LTO partnership is to develop a tape technology to meet many of the data protection needs associated with the explosion in information storage. At the present, there is a 4-generation roadmap planned for Ultrium technology, which takes the technology to 1.6TB compressed capacity per cartridge! LTO Ultrium cartridges employ Linear Bi-Directional Dual Servo recording technologies for maximum data reliability and Multi-Channel R/W heads deliver impressive throughput of up to 20/40MB per second (native/compressed).

Verbatim LTO Ultrium cartridges are ruggedized for the most intensive automation environments. Each cartridge features a Cartridge Memory (CM) chip. LTO-CM is an intelligent memory electronics and interface module embedded in the cartridge. It uses a radio frequency interface that eliminates the need for a physical power or signal connection between cartridge and drive, greatly improving the performance and reliability of the system. Information normally stored in the header at the beginning of the tape is held in LTO-CM.
